KINGDOM BALLERINAS

Learn the foundations of ballet, worship dance, and your royal identity as a child of God! This 40 minute class is designed with our youngest dancers in mind. Dancers ages 3-4 will be introduced to age-appropriate ballet technique, worship dance, and creative expression through movement in addition to weekly devotionals. This class is offered in 10-week sessions - once in the Fall and then again in the Spring.

PRE-BALLET A | PRE-BALLET B

This class is designed to introduce students to a more formal study of classical ballet through age appropriate skill development, creative expression, and music appreciation, while exploring the connection between dance, rhythm, and music. Age appropriate ballet vocabulary is included in the lessons complemented by stretching and strengthening exercises in preparation for more formal training. Pre-Ballet is divided into two age groups. Group A is for dancers ages 5-6. Group B is for dancers ages 6-7. Both classes are 40 minutes in length. No prior dance experience needed.

BALLET I | BALLET IIA | BALLET IIB | BALLET III | BALLET IV

Ballet is the foundation for all dance training. Students will be instructed in barre work, center floor work, and traveling steps in order to develop the essential technique of balance, body control, and muscle memory. Ballet also promotes flexibility and muscular strength while emphasizing correct body placement. Ballet classes are 55 minutes in length. Our ballet program is designed for students ages 7 through adult. Placement is required for level II and up.

BALLET + WORSHIP [TEEN/ADULT]

Ballet + Worship is a recreational dance class designed specifically for teens and adults that will give them more "tools" they can use in their personal or corporate praise and worship times. Students will be instructed in a beginner/intermediate level ballet technique during the warm-up portion of the class. Then we will guide them through several different types of activation exercises to teach them how to connect with God through movement. Students will learn how to pray for others with movement while also being encouraged in creativity and personal expression. Ballet + Worship is a 55 minute open level class for students ages 13 through adult. This class is 55 min in length. No experience needed.
Our Worship Dance classes are the foundation of Fueled & Aflame Dance Ministries. In the course of this class we will cover many different areas of worship dance including praise dance, interpretive dance, warfare dance, prophetic dance, and the use of flags, ribbons, and scarves. Our goal is to create an environment where dancers are able to hear and receive words from the Lord in the form of movement, worship freely in the Lord’s presence, and minister to others with movement. The worship dance portion of this class offers a very unique and special worship experience for our students.

POINTE/POINTE PREP

Pointe work is undertaken when the student has developed a strong foundation of ballet technique, and when the legs and feet are sufficiently developed. Students in this class will spend time strengthening and/or maintaining their muscles in preparation for pointe work. This class may be done in either ballet slippers (for those not yet on pointe) or in pointe shoes (for more advanced students). Students interested in Pointe work should be at least 12 years old and have a significant history of ballet training. Simultaneous enrollment in Ballet IV is required for entry into this class. Placement class required.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE IA | CONTEMPORARY DANCE II

Contemporary dance technique builds upon the fundamentals of ballet, modern, and jazz techniques and allows room for more creativity and personal expression in choreography. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that students have experience in both ballet and jazz prior to enrolling in contemporary dance classes. Our contemporary dance classes are made up of a combination of contemporary dance technique and worshipful choreography. Contemporary dance classes are 55 minutes in length and are designed for students ages 10 & up.

Contemporary dance classes are strongly recommended for dancers aspiring to be a part of our performing companies (Illuminate Dance Company and the IGNITE Training Program). Students who have a desire to pursue professional dance ministry should take contemporary in conjunction with ballet for a well-rounded dance training.

KIDS HIP-HOP

Kids Hip-Hop is a great introductory class for your energetic, younger dancers that focuses on creativity and personal expression while promoting an active lifestyle. Students will enjoy an upbeat, high-energy class focuses on musicality, rhythm, and basic locomotor movements in preparation for more complex moves and combinations in Hip-Hop I.  This recreational dance class is 40 minutes in length. No experience needed!

Through the fundamentals of hip-hop movement, the student will enjoy an upbeat and high-energy class. The class will consist of a cardio warm-up, isolations & rhythms, stretching & strengthening exercises, as well as hip-hop combinations culminating in a dance for our year-end concert. This class is 40 minutes in length.  Requirements: No experience needed. However, beginner students would greatly benefit from a year of Jazz prior to enrolling in Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop II requires placement.

This class combines the disciplines of jazz and tap, giving the dancer exposure to both genres in a 40 or 55 minute class.
Jazz is the style of dance often seen on Broadway or television. Students warm up with stretching, isolations, strengthening exercises, and “across the floor” exercises including turns and leaps. We’ll incorporate a combination that is usually fast-paced and rhythmically-based.  Tap is a discipline in which sounds and rhythms are created with tap shoes. Students learn the fundamentals of tap including shuffles, time steps and flaps.

ALL OF OUR CLASSES USE FAMILY-FRIENDLY MUSIC AND MODEST DANCE MOVES TO ALLOW YOUR STUDENT TO EXPERIENCE A VARIETY OF DANCE STYLES IN A GOD-GLORIFYING ENVIRONMENT!
